Garandomatic Posted March 8, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2016 Amid the crap and chaos of the world, this was a welcome distraction. Kickstarter campaign just started to finish up the restoration of PT-305. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/03/03/wwii-veterans-aim-to-relive-history-as-pt-boats-restoration-nearly-complete.html Neatest thing is, there is a vet helping that actually fought on that very boat. Here's the kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ww2museum/launch-pt-

katieony Posted March 10, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 10, 2016 Interesting articles. If I remember correctly, the museum in Falls River, MA also has two restored PT boats on display.

Rakkasan187 Posted March 10, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2016 Interesting articles. If I remember correctly, the museum in Falls River, MA also has two restored PT boats on display. You are correct.. PT Boats 617 and 796 are both located at Fall River, and Fall River is also the home of the National PT Boat Museum.. PT Boat 796 was painted with John F Kennedy's Boat number "109" and was towed in his inaugural parade in Washington D.C. Although it was a Higgins boat and not an Elco which Kenney was commander of in the Pacific.. PT 617 is also the only example of an Elco made PT boat on exhibit anywhere in the world. PT 305 will be a great addition to the fleet.. Leigh
Garandomatic Posted March 11, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted March 11, 2016 They made it to $100,000 in four days... Gary Sinise actually pledged $50,000 after seeing the momentum.
