BROBS Posted March 5, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2016 I have been offered this pouch, but I have not a clue what it is. Supposedly is from WW2 and came from a Seabee's estate. You can see him in the photo with the faces covered. What is this thing? Is it WW2? I've never seen one like it. thanks, -Brian

RustyCanteen Posted March 5, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 5, 2016 Yes, a late .30 Carbine ammunition pouch intended for the 30 round magazines. It appears to have been dyed blue or black?
BROBS Posted March 5, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted March 5, 2016 I believe they are just terrible photos.. I think it's a dingy OD green. thanks for all your input, -Brian
BROBS Posted March 5, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted March 5, 2016 Rusty you are right! Apparently it is "black" ? so this was purchased from a WW2 Seabee vet.. why black? thanks, -Brian
robinb Posted March 6, 2016 Share #7 Posted March 6, 2016 That pouch was not used in WW2. First came out in 1947 or 48.
BROBS Posted March 6, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted March 6, 2016 ok thanks Robin.. I thought some went out in 44/45 with the issued 30-rounders? -Brian
Sully Posted March 7, 2016 Share #9 Posted March 7, 2016 That pouch was not used in WW2. First came out in 1947 or 48. JQMD did make these pouches in 1945. The 1949 and later dated ones are more often seen but are still not common pouches.
