A summer 1952 photo in Korea of a 2nd Award CIB holder, former 1st Cav Vet in Korea now in a HQ unit in 8th Army. Only his name is known, John 'Jack' Simmons, can't find anything more on him, not his SS Citation, nor his units, site found says he was in D-Day and the Bulge. does not show in Korean War Causalities, so those two PH must be for WWII, (Of note he still for whatever reason wears the now superseded 1948 Reg stripes, some guys still wore them then into 1952)

A Mini CIB Korean War, that looks like what we're seeing there, a 1952 photo of a 40th Inf Div GI. Wearing a Mini on fatigue items would be most Atypical.

This is from a 32nd Infantry unit yearbook dated 1969. Soldier is wearing nice Theater-made badges. Notice the “SCOUTS” tab over his

173rd SSI.

Del's Photos (2).

1st is just post-war. Written on reverse:

Takin in our back yard. Oct. 1, 1945 Germany

My eyes are a little blurred because I moved them while it was being taken. Next time, I hope better.

Love,

               Del

The three cooks. We call ourselves “The Three Heroes”. We look it in the picture.

Love, Del

Frankfurt, Germany

Feb. 5 1946

Del is on the left if you couldn't tell. At least 2 of the 3 cooks have their CIB's in wear. Del's is metal, the missing toothed gent in the middle is cloth.

Apparently Del got his CIB between October 1945 and Feb 1946.

Just got this little group today.

(Ebay seller messaged me after the auction ended, I was the only bidder, and asked me if she could void the auction as "since my Uncle's stuff sold for so low. It might be best if I keep it."

Not a new seller, over 1000 positive feedback.)

What I love is how many men (9!) are wearing their CIB's and Pacific Campaign Ribbons w/ 1 star.

No idea of the unit sadly.

Soldier of the 8th Infantry Division's 13th Infantry Regiment wearing both the Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Infantryman Badge at the same time, which as far as I know has never been authorized.

Also note he is wearing four overseas stripes. The 8th went overseas in December 1943 and returned to the U.S. in July 1945. If he only served in a Europe with the 8th, he would at most have earned three overseas stripes.

PS DeBrocke did serve in Vietnam, got over there in sometime early-sh 1970, served till early-sh 1971, his assignment was as a Senior Staff Officer of XXIV Corps up in Eye Corps, thus the lack of the 3rd Award Combat Infantryman Badge.

Talk About Your Korean War Retread, in fact he appears to be a WWII Combat Vet as well, and will have the 2nd Award CIB.998133719_emoticonWOOT.png.c2c4468bf819b01deb7d27286d0a6bc0.png

Note the light colored ribbon with two Campaign Stars, which will be the Pacific Campaign medal, the WWII Victory and Army of Occupation medals, his Korean Service Medal has no Stars, though. but he was for sure wounded in Korea that much we know.

One Private First Class George A Bishop, in late 1966 at the Fort Campbell Basic Training Establishment (Campbell runs a Basic course during the war, 1966 to I think sometime in 1970) As we see despite him being only a Pfc, he is made Training NCO of his Company, A 10th Battalion Second Training Brigade.

Can find anything on him other than his causality listing in the Korean War.

One John J. Tuskan, Sr. 36th Armored Infantry, 3rd Armored Division wearing his CIB along with his EAME Ribbon with Battle Stars and his Good Conduct, an informal portrait as we see, taken out of the line, probably in Germany sometime in 1945.
