4th Miss Cav Posted February 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2016 I doubted if many had ever seen or would have the chance to see this monument so I wanted to share this photo with everyone. This is from my hometown of New Roads, Louisiana. This is in Pointe Coupee' Parish where J. A. Lejeune was born and raised. It is just a spec on a map in the middle of a rural area but it is rich in history. It was one of the earliest settled areas in Louisiana and French is still spoken by many. As you can see on the marker we don't pronounce the name like it is pronounced when you mention the camp. The r sound is very prominent at the end of the name.
