robinb Posted February 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2016 My neighbor was in the 44th Infantry Division during WW2. George Kozichek was a BAR man and rarely talked about his experiences during the War. He passed away a few years ago and at the estate sale my Dad found this canteen with an odd badge on the front. It looks familiar but I cant place it. Maker marked on the back OLC in a diamond. Is it even German or could it be something else?
dhcoleterracina Posted February 22, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2016 Yes, a WW2 era German canteen. The pin appears German in construction and by the makers mark though I've never seen anything like it.
Proud Kraut Posted February 22, 2016 Share #3 Posted February 22, 2016 The pin is a postwar early Bundeswehr branch insignia of the new German Tank Destroyer " Panzerjaeger" branch. So the pin it's definitive post 1955.
robinb Posted February 23, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted February 23, 2016 OK. Thanks. No telling how he ended up with it if it's post war.
