Johnny Signor Posted February 20, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2016 I was asked by "Dan" to recreate some unit patches from his original WW2 era Cloth flight jacket , the patches on the jacket were Very worn & faded and you could hardly tell what they were , anyway he's having the jacket refurbished also and the new patches I made for him will go on in place of the originals , BTW he Is going to preserve them , anyway the "original" group patch is on left in the image below ,my work on right, the 12th AAF is done in the "Italian" style (wings.star) and the US 48 "Star" flag did have "spots" rather than stars , enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 38Driver Posted February 22, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2016 The man does some seriously good work. I was blown away when I opened the package and saw the patches. Attached is an image of the flag Johnny did alongside an original that was not on the jacket but the same as the one that had been basically destroyed on the jacket. My preference is to preserve the original along with the squadron patch and the remains of the 12th AF patch off the jacket and use Johnny's as a way to get the jacket back to what it looked like originally. He really hit it on this one. And just so it doesn't need to get pointed out, we made the decision to make the patches just a touch bigger so that the sewing would be outside the original stitching. 38Driver Posted February 22, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 22, 2016 As long as I'm bragging about his work. This is the jacket they will end up on after it gets some TLC. Note the 12th and flag patches on the jacket are shot.
