Allan H. Posted February 17, 2016 Share #3 Posted February 17, 2016 Pierre, The "standard" WWII background trimming for the 509th PIB was a medium blue center with a light blue border. I have also encountered theater made medium blue ovals with yellow embroidered or gold bullion borders. I've encountered the black oval with golden yellow border in the effects of 327th GIR veterans and 541st PIR vets. I hope this helps. Tonomachi Posted February 17, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 17, 2016 There was a post war oval with the same colors (black with yellow border) but constructed differently that was worn by the 1st Battalion, 509th Infantry, 8th Infantry Division in Germany. excoelis1 Posted February 17, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted February 17, 2016 Thank you to you both, at least it narrows it down to which Unit. Cheers Pierre
