McDermut99 Posted February 16, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2016 I was fortunate to be able to acquire a piece of my community's history. Cpl. Oren A. McBroom served in Fox Company, Second Battalion, 142nd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. His company headquarters (National Guard) was located in Canyon, Texas. He served from 1940 to 1945, serving in Africa, Italy, France, Germany, and Austria. As the certificate below shows he at some point became a life member of the 36th Division Association. After the war he returned to Canyon and lived there until his death in 2011. Unfortunately, the building that was his company headquarters was demolished a few years back. Since then a monument and a Texas State Historical Marker have been placed where the building once stood. I have not been able to find any other certificates such as this. If anyone has any such certificates I would love to see them. Any and all comments are welcome!
