Tonomachi Posted February 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2016 I bought this at the flea market over the weekend real cheap for 5 dollars. I know nothing about this but it does say GUN SIGHT on the label. It appears to have been modified by the addition of a light source inside so when you turn it on and look through the glass you see a circular my guess gun sight. I was wondering how old this was and what type of aircraft it came out of?

Longbranch Posted February 15, 2016 Share #3 Posted February 15, 2016 With it saying U.S. Army Air Forces, I'd guess 1942-47ish. A close-up of the data plate would be awesome.
AustinO Posted February 15, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 15, 2016 Looks like an N-3 series Gunsight, missing it's sight head. Nice find! These were used throughout the war. Tonomachi Posted February 15, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted February 15, 2016 Many thanks for this information and here is a close up of the label.
Longbranch Posted February 15, 2016 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2016 Wow... instantly regretted asking for a close-up of the label. That crazy distortion almost gives me a headache when I look at it. LOL. AustinO, awesome website. Thanks for posting the link!
