fantomark Posted February 13, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2016 HI! It's still me! This will be (hopefully ..!) my second jeep project! I would like to build one more Jeep based on the vehicle appearing in the attached pic. However I just can't fully identify it! It's definitely a 110th Infantry Regiment Vehicle, but I really don know what the 2BN followed by one or more blurred, unreadable letter/s can be...??? Possiblly a 2nd Btn HQ vehicle, where the blurred letters should read HQ ?? Thanks again to all you Jeep experts out there!!! Cheers! Mark

fantomark Posted February 13, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted February 13, 2016 HI! Just one question.. Are you sure that the I actually means I company? I was under the impressions that the I after aany regimental number just meant INFANTRY If this is crrect then Bumper Codes would mean 28th Infantry Division; 110th Infantry Regiment - 2nd Battalion 4th Vehicle Thanks again! Cheers! MARK
earlymb Posted February 13, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2016 The standard for marking any material was laid out in AR-850-5. Ofcourse there were many variations, but start here: http://jeepdraw.com/images/AR-850-5.pdf For specialised jeep-related questions I would also look on the g503.com forums. Cheers! MARK You're correct. 28-110-I = 28th Division, 110th Regt, Infantry. The other side is just as you said: 2d Bn, vehicle 4. And just an FYI for 286th CA: I or Item Company is in the 3d Bn. 1st Bn: A, B, C, D Co's 2d Bn: E, F, G, H Co's 3d Bn: I, K, L, M Co's
fantomark Posted February 13, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted February 13, 2016 Hi! Thank you so much .earlymb and B229! But what is 286th CA anyway? Also is this 2-BN-4 a standard bumper code or a deviation from regulations? As far as I can guess from AR-850-5 a standad bumper code should have been either the HQ of the company Letter/s designations followed by the Vehicle number.. Battalion numerical designation as far as I understand should appear only in Battalion HQ vehicles and always followed by HQ letters, This is the first photo I have ever seen of the BN desgnation followed by the Vehicle number ... but I may bell be wrong here! bummer Posted February 24, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 24, 2016 The I stands for Infantry . I would assume the 4 would be the s-
