sgtbarnes44 Posted February 10, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2016 Hi, What are your opinion on these GEMSCO 3" senior pilot wings ? I do believe they are genuine WW2 era made as I have found very similar wings on some specialized internet site, but i also know that they are lot of fakes out there. So what do you think of them ? B-17Guy Posted February 10, 2016 Share #2 Posted February 10, 2016 I would say post WWII pre alpha numeric, probably 1950's. Nice solid Gemsco Senior Pilot wing badge, just not WWII. John

tomcatter Posted February 11, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2016 I may be wrong as I'm not a USAAF wings expert, but I think these are post WWII GEMSCO wings with AMICO pattern, from Korea War era or just after. A nice pair of wings anyway, I like them.

A nice pair of wings anyway, I like them. That's a great point about Amico.Amico seemed to use a their standard pilot wing with an applied star for all Senior Pilot wings and a different wing die for their Command Pilot wings, with applied wreath/star. This Gemsco wing is the same as an Amico Command Pilot, with a style of star never used by Amico. In the end, as discussed, it probably was struck in the1950's, but an Amico wing, with a Gemsco star. tomcatter Posted February 12, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 12, 2016 This is a 2" Command Pilot wing by GEMSCO from late 1950's or early 1960's, hallmarked both "GEMSCO" and "AMICO": maybe GEMSCO bought AMICO die after WWII?
