Incredible WWI USN Leather Football Style Flight Helmet

A recent pickup of mine. No maker marks or labels. Just stamped USN on the side, and 6 7/8 on the back of the neck. Has Gosport ear tubes.

Cool find! Looks like a variant of the Timmons Telephone helmet. Go to goggle patents and look up #1479017.
