stratasfan Posted February 1, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2016 OK, I don't exactly know where to post this one. We just watched the 1943 film, "Air Force". Does anyone know what the throat microphones are called? They wear them strapped around their necks and push on both sides of their throat to talk in them. Can you pick one of these up still or are they museum only things. ;o)

72psb Posted February 2, 2016 Share #3 Posted February 2, 2016 The throat mike was activated by a push to talk switch(SW-141). Throat mikes were also used by tank crews. The pinching of the mike was probably done to make better contact to pick up the vibration of the vocal cords. northcoastaero Posted February 2, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 2, 2016 The T-30-S is probably the most common version. I have seen many of them for sale new in the box from various dealers. S is the code for the manufacturer. Try the following sources: ebay.com garciaaviation.com bellsaviation.com aviation-antiques.com
