If you get to Port Moresby, there is a WWII museum there that has some great items. However the place is run down and gets almost no visitors.

Thanks for posting! Do you have a photo of the P38 flown by Wayne Rothgeb that is on display there? I knew Captain Rothgeb and he told me of the mission where it crashed and how he was notified several decades later that it had been found.

There was a P-38 there, nothing was known about it other than if you bought the guy running the museum a 6-pack of beer he'd let you take a piece of it.

Thank you for posting this, though sad it is too.

 

Maybe someone will see, and do something to preserve the museum and artifacts.

 

Were it within my means, I'd be on a plane down there with a fat check right now.
