unknown ord projectile help

I've had this for a very long time and don't know what it is as to MM or------------ some one slit the top to make it into a bank-- what looks like to me. there are no markings any where on it at all. any one know??? i'll guess, 75MM?

I don't think it is of United States origin. Probably circa WW1.

 

It looks like a smaller version of a 3 inch Russian HE shell that was produced here for the Russians during WW1.

 

I would say the part that unscrews is a fuze adaptor, and it looks like the top of the aforementioned screws off to reveal the threaded fuze well.

 

I can tell you that whatever it is, it is a projectile of the ''fixed'' variety due to the case crimping grove near the base.
