Sully Posted January 29, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2016 Could you post a photo of the base? Possibly a 3in round for the M1918 or M3 AA gun.

Jpage Posted January 29, 2016 Share #6 Posted January 29, 2016 Looks like a 75mm AP round (Sherman tank etc.) missing its ogive "cap". My .02?
DEADLINE222 Posted January 30, 2016 Share #7 Posted January 30, 2016 I don't think it is of United States origin. Probably circa WW1. It looks like a smaller version of a 3 inch Russian HE shell that was produced here for the Russians during WW1. I would say the part that unscrews is a fuze adaptor, and it looks like the top of the aforementioned screws off to reveal the threaded fuze well. I can tell you that whatever it is, it is a projectile of the ''fixed'' variety due to the case crimping grove near the base.
Jpage Posted January 30, 2016 Share #8 Posted January 30, 2016 Yes You're right .APC rounds were base detonating and filled from the base.
