Here is a very nice condtioned pre war officers visor with a Meyers EGA on it. Can anyone from the photo tell if this is a pre war or post war vintage ega? Sorry, the cap is not in hand to post a photo of the reverse.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Mark

Mark, there is a subtle difference between the two and one can tell the two periods / EGA's apart. Does anyone else recognize the difference? s/f Darrell

The difference between the war time and Korea era design lies in the anchor rope. The emblem to the left has a single loop tightly wrapped about the upper fluke (Korea era and after) and ends in brass cap on the rear, and the WW2 emblem to the right is loosely wrapped having and additional rope appearance or loop which comes back down to the mid-point of the anchor to end in the center rear where it was soldered in place.

Hey Darrell! Excellent pics and comparison. Shows those subtle differences in the EGA time-line which makes their collecting intriquing to some of us! Semper Fi!......Bobgee
