Patriot's Point has some great new updates in the works. I highly recommend visiting the museum. Here is a video showing some of the updates for the near future:

Leigh,

Not sure if you have been there recently but they have changed it quite a bit and are still updating, This wall with all of the dog tags of the SC soldiers killed in the war was very somber to see. Pictures don't do it justice to see all of the tags.

Kat,

I don't recall seeing that display. I was there in 2002.. Stayed at Isle of Palm.. Was pushing a unit out for deployment.. Had some free time, went to Patriots Point in uniform, they saw me and they didn't charge admission...

Form the deck of the US Navy Transport Bob Hope, I was able to look across the harbor and see Fort Sumter.. Did not have the chance to go there though...

Also went to a museum last summer downtown at the entrance of the outside mall. Had Civil War era items displayed which were very interesting.

Charleston is wonderful...except in the peak of summer. It can get a little toasty.

The Charleston Museum also has an impressive collection of all kinds of things....including early American silver and (last time I was there) a really nice CW display.

There's also the CSS Hunley museum, and Forts Sumpter and Moultrie; along with various houses and plantations. Drayton Hall is very impressive historically and architecturally.....if you're in the area.

Patriot's Point was nice....it looks like it has expanded a bit since I was last there.

Very cool! I think that is wonderful. You will LOVE what they have done for the USS Laffey and the gun turret. The museum said that their facilities are used over 300 times a year.

Definitely worth stopping. Charleston is a great tourist city and the opportunity to go to Patriot's point shouldn't be missed.
