Just got this one in the mail today and am stoked to get it. Its one of my all time favorite helmets. Its an M2 that belonged to George L Bean 1/505 PIR. Mr. Bean was part of the 82nd since the start and jumped into Sicily, Normandy and Holland. Hes also a Silver Star winner which came along with the helmet and a few other little pieces. The previous owner did a ton of research and I have a bunch of records via PDF this is by far my favorite helmet I've ever owned!

Very nice helmet.

I want to know more about the insignia.

And who is Tornado ?

And what's the story behind the damage ?

The insignia is the jack-o-diamonds which is seen on the 1/505th there are a few others out there and in the paratrooper book. Couldn't find anything definite on Tornado, possibly a nickname since he was from Kansas. And not exactly sure when the damage happened.

Great helmet. Do you have a picture of the bales ?

No, One is just hanging on by one side and its bent and I'm not risking taking the liner in and out. Having it in hand I know its a 100% legit M2.

Where have I seen this one before, Jamie? (PM me if you want)

It was discussed here back in 2010 when it first showed up on eBay. The previous owner is a member here also.
