smwinter207 Posted January 10, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2016 Can anyone tell me the era? I was told it is Japan made. Thanks,S
gwb123 Posted January 11, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2016 Per Wikipedia, the 37th AARS operated both at Danang, Vietnam and Udorn, Thailand during the Vietnam War. Without a bigger or more detailed photos I would guess your patch was made in Thailand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/37th_Aerospace_Rescue_and_Recovery_Squadron Gil BurketOmaha, NESpecializing in Fakes and Reproductionsof the Vietnam Warburkcats@hotmail.com "One is easily fooled by that which one loves." smwinter207 Posted January 11, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted January 11, 2016 It doesn't look that old to me. Here is a larger photo.
gwb123 Posted January 11, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 11, 2016 Well, this is the hazard in relying on one source of information. Here is another website that indicates that their were 37th AARS detachments operational into the 1980's. With your larger photo I would say that was made in Korea probably in the 1980's. Mitch Posted January 16, 2016 Share #7 Posted January 16, 2016 I don't think the "Jolly Green" patch was worn after the Vietnam war by the 37 ARRS. firefighter Posted March 4, 2016 Share #9 Posted March 4, 2016 Looks Japanese made to me. Randy I agree. And I think MITCH is right about the Jolly Green not being used after Vietnam. From what I could find they used the beaver with penetrator. Nice looking patch.Below is a great site for AF insignia. http://www.ericsusafpatches.nl/rescue/squadrons-flights/squadrons-flights%201_33.html ASMIC #1098
Mark1 Posted September 13, 2020 Share #10 Posted September 13, 2020 The 37th Flew the Jolly Greens, HH-3s and HH-53s From 1967 to 1972. Then flew HH-43 Huskies 1971 to 1972. The beaver patch is from when they moved to Francis E Warren AFB Flying UH-1 Iroquois 1973 to 1988. Then they changed the patch again to a UH-1N Iroquois over a globe 1988 to present.
