RickWW2 Posted January 5, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2016 My father in-law collected EVERYTHING without any regard to what it was, what it was worth, how to care for it, etc. As he is now in an apartment, I am charged with identifying his possessions and either selling them to pay for his care or scrapping them if they have little to no value. Been through the guns, now it's the knives, swords, etc. Here is another knife. I didn't find any marks on it. Blade is discolored in places as you can see. Any assistance is most welcome. SARGE Posted January 5, 2016 Share #4 Posted January 5, 2016 Yes, it is a WWI German "Ersatz" (second quality) S98/05 bayonet for the Gew.98 or Kar.98 rifles. As it has now been properly identified as a non-US bayonet the topic will be locked.
