Identifying bayonet

My father in-law collected EVERYTHING without any regard to what it was, what it was worth, how to care for it, etc. As he is now in an apartment, I am charged with identifying his possessions and either selling them to pay for his care or scrapping them if they have little to no value. Been through the guns, now it's the knives, swords, etc.

I would like help identifying and valuing is a knife. On the blade it says "COF" with "43" under it, and on the other side it says "3291" with an "S" under it. On the metal sheath it says 9232.

Any assistance is most welcome.

Edit - I meant to say "knife" in the title, don't see how to change that...

This is a WWII German S84/98 bayonet for the Kar.98 rifle. As it is German and not US the thead will now be closed.
