ClaptonIsGod Posted January 4, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2016 Bought this light fixture from the USS Ranger to eventually mount on the wall, and to my amazement both lights still work perfectly. I was wondering where on the ship it might have come from, and what purpose it might've served. As far as I can tell, they're just two 12 volt vehicle warning lights mounted onto pipes. Grant S. Posted January 5, 2016 Share #3 Posted January 5, 2016 Well, since no one else has given it a shot... I remember seeing lights similar to that on the hanger bay (of the Constellation, but same era). They could be elevator door warning lights, or warning lights for operation of the elevator, or for the doors that cut the hanger bay in half, or for the water washdown system, or even for the Halon system. Maybe an engine test warning light? Never worked on the hanger bay, and it's been a while so I can't say for sure. The only issue is the construction looks a little flimsy. Pretty sure it has to do with the aviation side of the ship since I was E-Division officer and don't remember us working on anything like this.
