Fixbayonets! Posted January 3, 2016 Author Share #29 Posted January 3, 2016 Thanks to everyone for the comments, it was certainly an interesting find. I got around to unfolding all of the packs, they all had the meat can pouches strapped in place & all of the leather knife & fork sheaths are present. They are all unissued but some do show some age & "shelf wear". Here is the line up. 1 - RIA 1914 5 - RIA 1915 2 - RIA 1918 1 - LCC & CO 7-18 3 - LCC & CO 8 -18 1 - Wiley, Bickford, Sweet 8-18 1 - Wiley, Bickford, Sweet 9 -18 1 - Long 7-18 Thanks again for checking them out! Fixbayonets! Posted January 3, 2016 Author Share #33 Posted January 3, 2016 Very cool! What's your plan with these? Keeping them all? I am going to keep the RIA 1914 & upgrade a few of the M1910 packs in my collection but the rest I will eventually part with. Rob
royski Posted January 23, 2016 Share #34 Posted January 23, 2016 I'm a little late but nice find. Were these old Bannerman's stock? I found similar stuff boxed up in my fathers attic after he passed. I know when the company was moved out to Long Island, a lot was boxed up and such like what you found.
Fixbayonets! Posted January 24, 2016 Author Share #35 Posted January 24, 2016 I'm a little late but nice find. Were these old Bannerman's stock? I found similar stuff boxed up in my fathers attic after he passed. I know when the company was moved out to Long Island, a lot was boxed up and such like what you found. That is very possible, this lot came out of an estate on Long Island. Rob
Longbranch Posted January 24, 2016 Share #36 Posted January 24, 2016 It's amazing what is still sitting around out there, waiting to be found. I mean seriously... think of how different the world was in 1914, yet that pack of yours has been sitting around unused for the last 100 years. Crazy. Awesome find!
