denfly Posted December 23, 2015 #1 Posted December 23, 2015 Can't seem to know what unit used this pinback. Normally I see "The Clipper" with color background not NY State.
Sully Posted December 23, 2015 #2 Posted December 23, 2015 New York State Guard Brigade DUI. I'm not sure which one though as this one is obsolete.
tredhed2 Posted December 23, 2015 #3 Posted December 23, 2015 According to the J-M 1984 Trading Post, it appears that your DI is for the 52nd FA Bde. That is not a clipper ship on it. Clipper ships were not around until approx 1850 and had nothing to do with NY. It is Henry Hudson's "Half Moon" under full sail.

denfly Posted December 24, 2015 Author #6 Posted December 24, 2015 What got me curious is the "Half Moon" ship appears to be superimposed over the state. The only DI's I've seen had either the 27th or 42nd div. over the state. Unless this is a certain variation of the 52nd F.A. Brigade, all if not most had the ship with a colored background. I searched the NYS DMNA websites heraldry section and didn't find this one there. Thanks for the input.
tredhed2 Posted December 27, 2015 #7 Posted December 27, 2015 While researching an unrelated subject, found a better reference that this was also worn by 27th ID Div Arty beginning in 1942.
Linedoggie Posted January 6, 2016 #11 Posted January 6, 2016 Or these?$_103.JPG$_103.JPGs-l225.jpg White background looks like the 54th infantry Brigade 27th Division though the stylized NY state may be a variation. Green top is 27th Div MP Co.pre WW2 Yellow top with blue looks like 27th Div Aviation
denfly Posted January 6, 2016 Author #12 Posted January 6, 2016 Thanks Linedoggie. These DUI's pop up now and then with various color schemes. I thought this was 27th MP?

patches Posted January 8, 2016 #14 Posted January 8, 2016 Thanks Linedoggie. These DUI's pop up now and then with various color schemes. I thought this was 27th MP? Here's the Wiki I started on the 93rd Infantry Brigade, well started and some unknown WIKI big wig finished, as it was very difficult for me to navigate though the procsss, I still always wanted to ADD the DI for this unit, I was sent an image of it, but just didn't and still don't know how to do it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/93rd_Infantry_Brigade_%28United_States%29 Same with the WIKI on the Hawaiian Division, I obviouly didn't start that one, but made many attempts at changing the patch that depicted, it the wrong one. denfly Posted January 8, 2016 Author #15 Posted January 8, 2016 Wow, very helpful info on these. I have never heard of the 93rd Inf. Bde. of NY. Quite informative. Thanks guy's.
