patches Posted December 19, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2015 That's cool, I suspect it's a cap device for a service cap worn when the GI had all his buttons and collar discs in Nickle. Remember, in the 60s and 70s as a alternative AG 44 coats could have the Brass buttons removed and have Nickle ones sewn on, this meant only Nickle collar discs could then be worn. If I remember, the man was with the fraction of the 5th Division that went to Vietnam, and later became a sergeant-major in some capacity at the JFK Special Warfare School.
