Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation was formed in 1943 when Consolidated Aircraft Corporation and Vultee Aircraft Corporation merged. They were at the time most noted for the production of B-24 Liberators and the PBY Catalina`s (flying boats). Engraved on the front face of the lighter is the companies logo. Also the name W.T. Burch, to whom it was presented to by Alexander Bronson. Both were likely in country (Italy) 1944-45 as there were active air bases supporting B-24s. Egypt appears on the back, a country the B-24s also operated from. You can speculate that perhaps one or both were engineers for the company and traveled to these locations. It is obvious that Bronson gave the lighter to Burch as a momento.It measures 2 1/2"x 1 1/8"x 1/2". Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
