WWII era U.S.HQ.B.D. No. 00 American Flag Shield Pin-What Is This?

I've found another example that may have been used in conjunction with the Nuremberg trials. These pins are serial numbered and may be some sort of issue ID for whatever headquarters unit it represents. That would seem to be an odd way to do it since presumably it was pinned on. No concrete idea though so far. Ed

Better late than never. US Headquarters Berlin District (USHQBD). I don't know what it's for, but it probably is some kind of award since it's numbered.

The Staff Sergeant

These were post-war ID badges issued to German civilian employees working for the US Army. I believe the initials mean "U.S. Headquarters Berlin Detachment".
