holtz Posted December 15, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2015 hello, does this have something to do with the B52 bombers? The B.U.F.F is slang for the b52s. is it associated with any military units? Thanks Bill
empireguns Posted December 15, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 15, 2015 looks like advertising to me but not 100% sure.
gwb123 Posted December 16, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2015 "Make My Day" of course originated with the movie Dirty Harry in 1971. But in a military context, this probably more directly relates to Ronald Reagan's use in 1985. "When speaking out against taxes at the 1985 American Business Conference, President Ronald Reagan, himself a former actor, stated "I have my veto pen drawn and ready for any tax increase that Congress might even think of sending up. And I have only one thing to say to the tax increasers. Go ahead—make my day." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_ahead,_make_my_day You heard the phrase over and over again after that point. The patch looks correct for that period. Perhaps a student or training flight?
Teamski Posted December 23, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2015 BUFF is an acronym for "Big Ugly Fat F^$%er". Most likely, this was a flight patch for one of the Bombardment Squadrons. I know the 416th BG out of Griffis had flight patches. -Ski
