Eric Queen Posted December 12, 2015 #1 Posted December 12, 2015 This is one of only three German helmets I kept and the only camo.
Eric Queen Posted December 12, 2015 Author #6 Posted December 12, 2015 My father got this directly from an 82nd AB vet the year I was born. No one wrote down or cared about names at that time. Here is a pic of it he took when he got it. 1964
Eric Queen Posted December 12, 2015 Author #7 Posted December 12, 2015 Another pic of it with the rest of his collection at the time. Pretty good provenance I guess
Morlok Posted December 12, 2015 #8 Posted December 12, 2015 If you kept only three, I would say you chose the right ones! That is a beauty! The pictures to go with it are great!
USCapturephotos Posted December 12, 2015 #10 Posted December 12, 2015 Hey Eric. This would be a dream find for me as I collect vet bring back items and I had a very good friend now deceased who was a member of the 4th FJ 10th Regiment who was captured in Italy. He always told me how the first thing the GI's did when they captured him was grab all of his awards, his helmet and his most favorite possession, an expensive Italian pipe. Hey on another note, send me a message when you can. I have a few good original photos from dog handlers in WW2 and Vietnam. Take care, Paul
DogTCollect Posted December 12, 2015 #11 Posted December 12, 2015 I would like to see the comments if you posted them on another forum with the title " Is this FJ helmet original?" Im sure theyll say its a fake and after you have to say you got it directly from the vet and makefun of them.
kammo-man Posted December 14, 2015 #12 Posted December 14, 2015 VERY nice indeed. Top shelf as they say. Your dad had good taste. owen
Guest gfb Posted December 14, 2015 #13 Posted December 14, 2015 Wonderful helmet....especially since it was from your father's collection. When I was a teenage collector in the mid 60's I knew a collector of camo helmets named Bob who lived around the Long Beach area. Was your father's name Bob? George
katieony Posted December 15, 2015 #15 Posted December 15, 2015 A nice and rare helmet! Too bad its history was not recorded.
doyler Posted December 15, 2015 #16 Posted December 15, 2015 Thats a stunner.Nice that it also has a connection to your fathers collection. Thanks for posting.
