gwb123 Posted December 4, 2015 Share #13 Posted December 4, 2015 Okay... I am going to ask a very basic question. Has this thing been rendered harmless? The igniter tubes are still in place, and you can't tell from the photo if they are empty or not.
mikes militaria Posted December 8, 2015 Author Share #14 Posted December 8, 2015 Considering its original source I'd have to say it is harmless, that being said , I won't assume anything and have my friend double check.
gwb123 Posted December 8, 2015 Share #15 Posted December 8, 2015 Always good to ask. There was a great story I heard while I was in the Army. Apparently at the Ft. Bliss museum there was a Saggar missile on display, fully mounted in its man portable launcher. We had "obtained it" after the Yom Kippur War. One of the attendants there was doing some routine cleaning of the exhibit and accidentally flipped one of the switches. Reportedly all of the needles on the dials started moving, and started swaying every time a car went by. From what I was told the thing was live and fully capable of firing. Needless to say, it gave the local EOD guys an exciting afternoon.
