Cherokee Posted November 30, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 30, 2015 These came together in an estate. Does anyone recognize the tab and how does it relate to the 82nd Airborne? As always, the knowledge of this group is greatly appreciated. Just FYI the veteran was also a Boy Scout and the tab reminds me of the design and style of scouting patches so if this is not military please forgive the error. Longbranch Posted November 30, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 30, 2015 We had a thread about this a while ago. Looks like some members of the 82nd participated in Task Force Frigid. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/95451-tf-frigid/

Cherokee Posted November 30, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted November 30, 2015 Thank you, gentlemen. Impressive info and a much better find than I anticipated. This must be a fairly uncommon piece.
Brig Posted November 30, 2015 Share #8 Posted November 30, 2015 There's an interesting one Must have sucked...just finish years of war, only to be dropped into the Alaskan wilderness as a testing bed for potential operations against the USSR. Bet it paid off during Korea
WW2JAKE Posted November 30, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 30, 2015 So cool, it's frigid! As a side note if I am remembering correctly there is video footage of Jones's fatal jump... but that comes with a word of caution before attempting to watch it. lamarhooten Posted December 1, 2015 Share #10 Posted December 1, 2015 Another good reason to be member here or ASMIC! All the great info you have just learned about how a simple, 'maybe a boyscout patch' became a very nice collectible patch! You can NEVER learn enough about military collecting hobby. The more you learn, the more you can help yourself and other collectors. Great find and glad you thought twice about the patch. ASMIC has a great article about this patch and the whole operation. Worth the time to check it out.
