I picked this one up from eBay this past weekend and I just couldn't let it go. He was a AMM3/c on the Hornet from the shakedown cruise till she was sunk at the battle of Santa Cruz Islands. I can't seem to find any muster rolls for the Hornet. I do know from his Pennsylvania veterans compensation application he was on the Hornet from 1/15/1942 to 10/26/1942. I can't wait to order his file.

He was on the USS Hornet when it was sunk. Here is a muster roll of survivors on the USS San Diego after they received survivors from the USS Hughes.

Thanks KASTAUFFER. I seen the muster roll for the San Diego but missed the scouting squadron. I wonder if he every flew. Sometimes AMM3/c personnel flew as gunners on missions.

I just fixed it for you. Must have been some autofill function. Were you using an Iphone to make the post?
