Two GI bringback scrapbooks with souvenirs pasted in.

Seeing Doyler's incredible scrapbook a few days ago inspired me to post some photos from two of my favorites. The first scrapbook kept by the wife of Captain Jack Kron, who commanded Battery D of the 36th FA Regiment. These were 155mm "Long Toms". He stayed in the army rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel during Korea. I'm proud to own this album.

..In the back of the album is a period map from Sicily that Captain Knox marked xs from where the battery set up as well as their route across Sicily during the battle.

Thats great....awesome HG cuff title.The letters really add some personal insight as well.

 

Scrap booking was a huge pass time in the 20's, 30's and 40's.
