I recently acquired this RAF C Helmet (Type 2), which to me was obviously used by a US pilot. Affixed to the front is a Lion with what appears to be "Stars & Stripes" wings. The Lion also has a crown and his chest bears what appears to be the flag of England, with a red cross and white background. (not the Union Jack of Great Britain) I know that this is the proverbial "shot in the dark" but has anyone ever seen this before? Been on there a very long time as the leather has started to deteriorate around the figure in the exact shape. Thoughts? Even your wildest guess would be appreciated.
