I tried looking this up for you, and discovered that other people have been unable to identify Bugs Bunny insignia too... I think there are 3-4 very similar versions existing out there. Bluehawk Posted September 18, 2008 Share #42 Posted September 18, 2008 Kenneth, The USAF heraldry office has replied. I copy their message here below. There were attached 6 images to his mail. One of them closely resembles the Bugs Bunny image on your leather jacket. It came from the 427th Bomb Squadron. I am unsure of how to get the attachments sent to you other than by forwarding, or some other way. Here is the text of our conversation, so you'll have those contacts for yourself if you wish. ----------------------------------------------------------- "I am most grateful to you Mr. Bailey. We are trying our best to identify that unit, era, and related matters for historical and provenance purposes. I will pass your generous reply on to the others for their handling. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bell, M S (aka Bluehawk) Joplin, MO http://www.TreatAnySoldier.com http://www.AnyAirman.com http://www.usWarDogs.org http://www.Trackpads.com http://www.USMilitariaForum.com ----- Original Message ---- From: "Bailey, Carl E Civ USAF AETC AFHRA/RSO" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Cc: "Haulman, Daniel L Civ USAF AETC AFHRA/RSO" <[email protected]>; "Gamma, Lynn O Civ USAF AETC AFHRA/RS" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 18, 2008 3:19:32 PM Subject: FW: USAF Heraldry - WWII Flight jacket insignia Mr. Bell, I've attached several Bugs Bunny emblems that were used during WW II. I've seen a few versions of the image, but cannot find anything to identify the name/number of the unit. I've tried every known publication I could get access to. BEAST Posted September 20, 2008 Share #45 Posted September 20, 2008 Very nice reference thread that you have started! Hope this one gets pinned also. Here is a N-2B with hood. The tag is a little unclear, but I believe that the contract date is 1962 (maybe 1952?). Note the compass on the sleeve pocket. This coat came from a PJ who gave it to his little brother. His little brother (now grown and in his 50's) gave it to me.

khwchan888 Posted September 29, 2008 Author Share #50 Posted September 29, 2008 USAAF B-13 Officer's Flight Jacket, Major, USAAF (ex-8th AAF, USAAF) This is my new addition to my collection. This is the Officer version of flight jacket, it is more of a service dress jacket. The other ranks version is call B-14. I do not understand the rational to design such jackets as it is different from A-2, B-15 etc. This jacket is very rare.
