dmcneill Posted November 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2015 Attached is a copy of my grandfathers service record card with the notation "Awarded M C C" at the bottom. His other records indicate he participated in the Cambrai campaign as part of the 11th Engineers. Can anyone help with what the MCC stands for. Greatly appreciated as I have search the internet for hours..... Thanks

Bruce Linz Posted November 13, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 13, 2015 Hello, It could be an abbreviation for an award of the Meritorious Service Citation Certificate (MSCC). The recipient of an MSCC could have applied to have it converted to a Purple Heart after 1932. You will need to see if an award card exists at the NPRC in St. Louis. Good luck. USAFnav Posted November 14, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2015 Since he was at Cambria, I wonder if it is supposed to be the British Military Cross (normally just "MC")? Pete
BigJohn#3RD Posted November 14, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 14, 2015 I concur with the Meritorious Service Citation and if it was awarded by HQ AEF then he would have been eligible for the Purple Heart in 1932 for meritorious service until 1942 when the Legion of Merit was established.
