A lil of this and that

Recommended Posts

I'm going through todays finds and thought I'd share some of it now (since I'm excited). ^_^

I got an 11th Airborne guys tote/bin full of stuff that's a total mess. Pins, patches, paperwork, weapon cleaning kit, boot brush, polish, etc........ Put some on top of the tote for a pic, too much to mess with right now. Note the ww2 flight helmet and ox mask. cool!!!

Couldn't wait and didn't finish the 11th ABN so I'm going through a WW2 8th ID guys suitcase of stuff right now and will upload a quick pic later.

That brown camo pattern bush hat will probably get some comments from some folks on here. Please show separately if you get the chance.

Great finds! Was this found at a show or a local ad?

Mike,

I was just thinking the same thing. Would be nice if it was one of the "Horse Camo" helmets in the picture. That would solve the mystery!

Sweet assortment!You did well

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there

I've chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

where never lark, or even eagle flew;

and while, with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Thanks Guys!

A friend told me where this stuff was. Had to travel a bit but I was happy when I left!

A lot of people on the forum seem to be die-hard collectors and show goers but I've only been to one show and that was a couple of years ago.

The pic with the helmet is actually a helmet liner (jump school ?). I have his jump school certificate and it has Benning 1950 and the pic has Campbell 1950 in pencil on the back.

Here's the hat. It's a little beat up but I picked it up because of the brown color.

An FYI: If I had anyone thinking all the stuff in post #1 came out of the tote (it didn't). The first 4 pics in post #1 are not from the 11th ABN tote.

Thanks to everyone for the comments!

Here's a little more that's NOT from the tote or suitcase.

I'm supposed to see the guy I got the hats from in a few weeks and he said he will have some tiger hats for me B)

I have my fingers crossed!

I like the hats the most...

Thanks! Yeah, I like the hats too.

I haven't had enough time with the 2 groupings but as of now (so far) I like the 8th Infantry the most. There's an engraved bronze star with orders, cert, card, mail tube. A diary (first combat La Haye-du-Puits) and another little book "The story of the 8th ID" which he noted on the last page his unit guys names/city/state and their status (OK,W,K). and other goodies!

Thank you for reposting the brown one. It's an interesting pattern not often seen.

You're Welcome!

Out of the 4 hats, that is the one I was going to pass on because of the sweatband/condition but then I didn't remember ever seeing a brownish one.
