8&40 Ladies cape and hats

Our hospice coordinator was at a meeting last week and another woman brought these items in...no info on the original owner other than they were found at an estate sale several years ago. The 8&40 was formed in 1963, so they're not particularly old, but they are eye-catching, to be sure. All pieces are made from red wool..the hats have some very minor mothing but are in overall unissued condition.

Here's the cape, along with the collar detail....

I have been looking to find out more information about this group but am confused. I see a ladies group named 40 & 8 that says they are NOT the 8 & 40 group.

Do you have any information on this group other than they were formed in 1963?

Thanks, Kat
