Silvio Posted November 5, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2015 Hi all, Here is what i believe a genuine Flying Jacket used in vietnam. Jacket has some grease/dirt and the cuffs are damaged but overall a nice salty look. The pilot names is Kahler and by the generic Mohawk patch he probaly flew a OV-1 L-2B tag is still inside the pocket. Thanks for watching and opinions are welcome. Silvio Posted November 5, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted November 5, 2015 Inside sewing name tag. Interesting fact is that the mohawk patch sewing technic is not seeing on the inside.
phantomfixer Posted November 5, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 5, 2015 It is a legit L-2B,1968, I could not say about it's use or the patches though....if patches are correct, then you did good.... I had an Army field jacket, dated 1968, with the same style name tapes Don't wash or dry it....the orange liner will shrink...
gwb123 Posted November 6, 2015 Share #10 Posted November 6, 2015 It may have been worn during Vietnam, but it also could have been worn afterwards: The 1st Aviation Brigade was redeployed to Fort Rucker, Alabama, on 24 March 1973 for retention on the Active Army Roll. There it transitioned to a training unit, eventually providing command and control for 2 battalions, each with a unique mission. The Brigade was normally staffed by about 1,800 permanent party soldiers to support more than 1,900 military students. Among its many command responsibilities, logistical support, and administrative duties, the Brigade had a primary mission to train future Aviation leaders in warfighting by using constructive simulation and classroom instruction. Equally important were the advanced individual training skills taught to entry-level soldiers in the Air Traffic Control, Aviation Operations Specialist, and UH-1 and OH-58 Maintainers Courses. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/agency/army/1avn-bde.htm
