CHASEUSA11B Posted November 2, 2015 #1 Posted November 2, 2015 Hello everyone. I picked up this interesting piece at the swap meet this morning. It appears to be a standard CVC Combat vehicle crew mans Kevlar helmet with Velcro and pads added to the interior. The cover appears to be a regular helmet cover which had been cut and glued to make it fit. If anyone has comments or ideas is be glad to hear them. Thanks for looking!
72psb Posted November 2, 2015 #6 Posted November 2, 2015 Most likely paint baller modified.Numerous hits on the interweb when you search these mods. Then again it could be an in theater mod.Makes a cheap FAST helmet.
LarryM3 Posted November 2, 2015 #7 Posted November 2, 2015 This is the shell or cranial portion of the DH-132A CVC helmet, heavily modified. I agree that this was most likely done for paint ball use. The DH-132A shell has no ballistic protection and modest fragmentation protection. It was for that reason that it was replaced beginning in 1995 with the heavy Kevlar DH-132B CVC helmet. DH-132B helmet shells are frquently converted by SOG for field use but there would be no value in converting a DH-132A helmet shell. Hope this makes sense. Larry
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted November 2, 2015 #8 Posted November 2, 2015 Marpat was adopted in 2002 and as LarryM3 pointed out the DH-132A was phased out by then.
