oldabewla Posted November 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2015 Went to a consignment gun auction today which some times has a few pieces of military in it. I saw this cantten set which looks to be a unissued 1942 canteen rig. I took the canteen out and was also dated 1942 A.G.M. CO. the same as the cover is (1942 Scott MFG) I looked inside and was kinda dark but never paid attention to the cup for some odd reason like I always do? I purchased it for the first bid of $10 I paid for it got it out to the car and popped the cup out of the cover and WOW a mint unissed 1942 black enamel canteen cup with no chips! couldn't believe it! Still fun to find gems when not looking.

Brian Keith Posted November 2, 2015 Share #10 Posted November 2, 2015 I suspect a lot of us have missed really great items, because we thought they were "common" and didn't take the time to check them out! Great find! Congratulations, thanks for posting it. I found an enamel cup (very good condition, but not mint) HOT GLUED to the wall behind the counter of a surplus store 20+ years ago for less than $10. The glue came right off.BKW
