Helmet is identified to Robert Crosson and I am in the process of searching for more information on the Marine. Helmet has a Type I cover that is rusted to the interior of the shell. I did pull one loose and it is stamped "55". The cover shows field wear from use. The liner is stamped Seaman and shows use as well. Posting the helmet as received in untouched condition. The "55" leads me to think that it belonged to the postwar Marine, but I'm not an expert in these covers...haven't seen many named examples...
