ocsfollowme Posted October 29, 2015 Share #3 Posted October 29, 2015 I have spent a good 2 hours researching that has resulted in nothing. I have had one for about 6 years and my believe that it is some Home Front related patch as tredhed2 stated. I have not seen too many of them on eBay over the past decade but they go between $12-25 each. Question: did you personally remove it from the overseas cap? This is good info to know. Cherokee Posted October 30, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted October 30, 2015 Yes, the hat is from a nice CBI lot but this piece really threw me off. Would love to know more about it if you can find any info.

Some more information for you on this. This is actually from my wife's grandfather's estate. He was in the 708th Engineer battalion from 43-45 and spent most of his time in India and some in Burma working the Ledo Road and Burma Road. His name was Frank Wilburn. All of his other items are CBI related but no one in the family can find or place any connection to this patch.

Allan H. Posted November 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted November 9, 2015 I found a Frank E. Wilburn who served in the 1382nd Engineering Petroleum Distributing Company in the CBI. They took part in the building of the LEDO Road. Allan
ocsfollowme Posted November 9, 2015 Share #10 Posted November 9, 2015 I think I have seen about 5-6 of these JAYWAR patches on ebay over the past decade and I am sure that I missed a bunch in the first 5 years since I have mostly focused on Home Front pieces in the past 4 years. I think at least 4-5 of them were always sold by themselves as "Home Front patch" so it would be hard to draw any conclusion from the other items in the junk drawer/collection/grouping to ascertain what it could be from. Google searches come up empty.

So there are 3 possibilities I can think of 1) The patch came from a CBI lot off of an overseas cap from a CBI veteran so it is actually related to CBI or 2) Being familiar with Jaywar in India the patch was picked up stateside as a novelty and put in with the other items because of the name similarity or 3) It is just absolute coincidence and the patch is in no way related. Regardless this has me very intrigued. I am going to visit soon and will see if I can pick up any more info, notes or photos. If I come up with anything relevant I will give you another update.
