Carabinieri Posted October 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2015 Purchased this with badge at a flea market in a box with two red cross pins and a private purchase wrist compass. Have had no luck researching it. Hand made and engraved about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Any help would be appreciated.
tredhed2 Posted October 26, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2015 It would appear to be an UA DI for any number of units numbered 258. I cannot copy and paste a link, but if you google Unit Citation and Campaign Participation Credit Register DA Pam 672-1 - or search the forum, it may be here, you can research the units. tredhed2 Posted October 27, 2015 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2015 FWIT - looks like a megaphone in the center, what a circus ringmaster would use......not some actual military symbol..... Member, ASMIC.Editor, ASMIC's The Trading PostASMIC Executive VP
John Conway Posted January 12, 2016 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2016 There was a 258th Aero Squadron in WW1. The triangular imagery of this badge doesn't seem to correlate but the circus reference is equally obscure. Perhaps a particular flight within the squadron? The workmanship could suggest WW1 era - possibly made as a watch fob? And I looked, and Behold a Pale Horse: And his name that sat upon him was death, and Hell followed with him. firefighter Posted February 4, 2016 Share #6 Posted February 4, 2016 I agree with JOHN. Probably an Aero Sq. They used the word CICUS a lot. Looks like it may have been part of a reunion medal or a fob. ASMIC #1098
