Custermen Posted October 23, 2015 #1 Posted October 23, 2015 I still enjoy shooting the civilian Walther PP (.380 Auto) that my Dad brought home from Italy. Dad was with the 337th Combat Team that pursued the retreating Germans into the Alps. I think most of retreating Germans were security units and mainly Police because he picked up a Police Helmet and also this gun is civilian, not military issue. On their retreat to Brenner Pass, the Germans called a truce to negotiate a surrender that would allow them to keep their small arms. This was refused and the fighting started back. After a few minutes of heavy firing, the Germans finally surrendered. They were ordered to toss all their firearms over the edge of the mountain road. Walther PP I don't claim to be a crack shot but I was proud to see that I can still hit the Bulls at my age & with my bifocals. Note the bottom magazine release on bottom of grip. These were only produced about 2 years. A photo taken by Dad with his liberated Zeiss camera. Photo was taken on the narrow roads in the Alps and shows some American officers talking to some Germans.
doyler Posted October 23, 2015 #2 Posted October 23, 2015 That's a fine Walther and great to its history.
tarbridge Posted October 23, 2015 #3 Posted October 23, 2015 Nice gun ...nice photo...nice story...Great shooting at 7 feet
Custermen Posted October 23, 2015 Author #4 Posted October 23, 2015 Nice gun ...nice photo...nice story...Great shooting at 7 feet 7 Yards!!! Hey! Don't dis me, man. I edited to crop the targets at the top. I shot at one at 10 Yards and the first shot was a Bullseye. I don't mean to brag but could James Bond do any better??
Bugme Posted October 23, 2015 #5 Posted October 23, 2015 Nice gun ...nice photo...nice story...Great shooting at 7 feet Ditto on the first three points... but, 7 ft? I can do just as good at 7 feet but, gets a bit more scattered at 7 yards.
Custermen Posted October 23, 2015 Author #6 Posted October 23, 2015 Dad also brought home a Lugar with all matching serial numbers. That gun has a natural fit to you hand so you would think I would be able to shoot better groups with it----but the PP wins out everytime. Anyway, this thread is about the gun---not about ME.
TheMariner Posted October 23, 2015 #7 Posted October 23, 2015 Wow thats a great gun and the story behind it makes it even better. Thanks for posting this !!
