Brian Keith Posted October 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2015 Here is a pair of carded pilot wings of: Laurel W. Kelly (O-820 767), separated as a Captain, from Bluffton, IN. Co-Pilot, B-17, Shot down during a bombing mission, July 24, 1944 over Italy. 15th Air Force, 99th Bomb Group. Missing for four months, helped by local partisans, and repatriated prior to Christmas, 1944. The plane was a B-17G, 42-107016, and crashed near Chiusa, Italy. The wings are a 3 IN pair of clutch back AMICO and a two inch pair of pin back SMILO. These were likely purchased in 1945 after he returned to the US. This is part of a grouping donated by the family to the Museum of the Soldier, Inc. and will be included in an upcoming exhibit. Thanks for looking, comments welcome. Sabrejet Posted October 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted October 23, 2015 Great to see "PX" carded examples like that. I have an AMICO wing of the same pattern...but not on a card!
