It does look like a 2nd INF DIV insignia.But not sure when and why it was worn.I know here are a LOT of WW1 variations, Army & MC units.There are 10 feathers and that pretty much synchs up with what he's suppose to have.I was think an AERO SQ but I don't think so.

I did find an interesting 2nd ID patch while looking for yours.The Chief in this patch looks more like a female.
