Here is my salty vet bring back NVA helmet. It shows lots of jungle use and wear from branches. There's a graffiti heart scratched in the underside. Wartime ones like this are hard to find.

This one really talks to you when you hold it in your hands.

I hope you like it.

Thanks for sharing! I only have one allegedly brought back by a 25th Div vet but no real provenance. Hoping to find one with good provenance one of these days.

I bought it from a dealer which got it from an older collection. There is no info about the veteran but they told me that it is definitve a bring back. I hope this is ok.

Damned cool helmet!

My desire to collect militaria actually started with this very helmet. My dad returned from Vietnam in 1973 and brought me back the same type green sun helmet. Mine has a few small shrapnel holes, and the name "Han" written inside on the liner, as well as having the name etched on the inner hard surface of the helmet - the name was etched using a pin, forming the name out of numerous pin holes.

After getting this helmet I got bit by the bug and started collecting (at age 11).

My father's bring back helmet is now displayed on a wall in my 'man cave.' Beneath it I've framed Vietnamese currency, a propaganda leaflet and some Vietnam "morale" patches.

Right next to it I've mounted and displayed one of my bring back helmets (First Gulf War) and framed Iraqi currency, a PSYOP leaflet and a few Gulf War 1 and OIF "morale" patches.

Thanks, Bryang and luxembourg -- it's always good to hear those stories about how and when an item was found and how it influenced our collecting.

I like NVA headgear a lot, especially ones with the soldier embellishments. The heart is very unusual - never seen them do that before. I've got a couple or so with photos of the4 US vet wearing them in ietnam - those are faves.

The vet is wearing the sun helmet he brought back in the lower left photo. The other photos all show him with other gear or items that he brought back.
