Is this an officer's hat device or is it a sweet heart pin? As you can see in the photo the device is just a little larger then a US quarter. The device is a pin back, with no maker markings, and it looks to have some age to it. Thanks

It could be sweetheart piece or it could go with a child's uniform. Here is one that is similar on a cheap copy of the O/S cap.

This hat device is well made and has a little weight to it so it I don't believe it is a toy but, who knows? I appreciate the info. Thanks thumbsup.gif

Check Emerson's Encyclopedia of U.S. Army Insignia & Uniforms. This looks a lot like the small national eagle used on officers coat collars back around 1900 before they started using the "U.S." collar device.

US Victory Museum

This is the insignia part of a child's Jr. Wac play suit.

Back when I acquired the 'uniform' I didn't know what it was; however, thanks to moderator "Vintageproductions" and

administrator "Forum support," the identity was established. If you follow the enclosed link you can see your pin, as well

as the rest of the clothing.
